Nicholson’s Coats

In the late 1800s, a prosperous raincoat manufacturer and woollen cloth merchant, Arthur John Nicholson, arrived in what we now know as Fleetville. Choosing St Albans for its clean air and affordable land prices, he built a factory on what became Sutton Road and houses on Hedley Road for the tailors he brought with him. The exhibition is temporarily being edited.  Apologies for inconvenience.
